Thoughts not Food

I've been quiet with this. The main reason being that I've been in a mostly introspective, and frankly quite negative frame of mind recently, and whatever I wrote on here would have been exactly that, negative, introspective and probably self-pitying. No! We'll have none of that.

Spring is squeezing its way through the cold and dark and I certainly feel a bit more bouncy.

Right, a note on music. I put on 'Stars of the Lid' while me and John were eating tea the other night. I said that, to me, the music sounded 'big' and when I listen to it I try and imagine things that are big, to fit the music - for example, mountains. So I think about travelling slowly across the biggest mountain range in the world, but, the mountains still aren't big enough. So, what is bigger than mountains? The sea.... so I imagine travelling through the darkest caverns of the sea....and still, it isn't big enough. So, nothing on the Earth is big enough for the music so I think about the expanse of Space. It fits space, but then I stop because space is too big to imagine. I ask John what he things and he looks puzzled at my explanation. He puts his hand on my arm as if to say 'You are 'gifted' aren't you'. I take up another forkful of tea, and it's gone cold.

Anyway, listen to Stars of the Lid, they're cool.

New found source of amusement

Today I discovered the Uncyclopedia . I was attracted to a story about Anarchist Squirrels and was not disappointed when I read it, I had to stifle my giggles. Please check out other very amusing entries, for example the one for Oscar Wilde.

I've had my haircut. It's much better now. I'll put up an 'after' pic later on.

Listen to Gravenhurst: 'Song amongst the Pines', from The Western Lands [I think!]. If you've ever lusted after the wilderness or just enjoyed the simplicity and beauty of a peaceful woodland, you'll appreciate this song.

Aliens for Breakfast

Feeling the need for a change of direction. I'm 25 this year. It's about time I started using some of the skills I was born with....Or is it just the effect of Winter?

I've been making things, here's a picture of some of them. What are they doing?

(Listen to: Lindstrom)

Outta the box!

I felt fed up today because I lost my purse. Worked at home so I could sort out replacing my drivers license and various other costly things but went out to get some lunch and saw some parking that made me smile. I don't know what it is about shit parking that appeals to me? There is something anarchic about it...

I'm a b-girl, s'all that I am, gonna step up to the party with a fireproof plan.

I've had a request to make my blog accessible by a feed. I haven't done this before but think I might have sorted it. I'm using Firefox and and can see the blue RSS symbol in the address bar. If using internet explorer, the RSS symbol on the toolbar should now be lit up in orange. Good luck. If you know a better way to set this up, I'm all ears.

Had an offer to have my hair cut, in my very own house, accompanied by a few drinks. Trific.

(Listen to: Zion I - any album, they're all amazing)

Here's a pic of a rainbow plunging straight through the roof into my bedroom.

Good with scissors?

Man I really need a haircut. I last had my mop chopped at the beginning of August, nearly 5 months ago. My problem is that I don't want to sacrifice a Saturday morning going to the hairdresser when I could be doing something more fun. If you have scissors and an imagination, give me a call.

(Listen to: Leftfield, 'Leftism')

NOTE ADDED: 12 Jan. My hair is now so long I can get it into a convincing top-knot. Wish I had a kimono now...

Turn up the metal and set the reindeers free.

What is it about Christmas shoppers that makes me suddenly despise everyone? Instead of feeling festive, all I can think about is the hideous amount of waste, disapointment and debt that a lot of people will feel afterwards. Maybe this has been brought by the fact that I was in town today and I blocked out all the noise around me with metal on my iPod. I allowed the rage to travel through me. It was a good feeling.

I do actually enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my family but this time I'm not even feeling a trickle of excitement. I'm just looking forward to the Solstice tomorrow and the thought of a fraction more daylight everyday. Nuff waking to darkness and getting home to darkness. Give me dusky warm evenings, new things growing and sunkissed sessions at the BMX track.

Was in Brussels this week and saw a pretty cool light display in a city square. It was cheesy and Jean-Michel Jarre-esque, totally Euro, but I was loving it. As much as I love Sheffield, it ain't gonna put on a show like that even if we caught a glimpse of the Steel in a parallel universe! I remember seeing some reindeers in a pen in Shef city Centre a couple of years ago. Mmm, beautiful creature, captive in a cage for the eyes of unappreciative Moor consumers.... how completely FUBAR is this culture?

Night x
